Trumpet Winsock long served as the Consummate Winsock Application for Windows 3.x SLIP/PPP users — until 32-bit OSes arrived there weren't really even any alternatives. Winsock's utility has diminished, though, with each new release of Windows. Aside from its IPv6 support, these days Trumpet Winsock has little to offer most users, as Windows 98 and later offer full winsock and internet connection support.
