Yahoo! Messenger is a relatively new instant message client that competes with the likes of ICQ and AOL Instant Messenger. Instant messaging is similar to e-mail in that it allows you to exchange free, private messages with your online friends. But unlike e-mail, instant messages appear as soon they're sent.

Yahoo! Messenger may be a youngster relative to its competition, but that certainly doesn't mean the client is lacking when it comes to features and functionality. With its instant messaging, voice chat, file transfer, and conferencing capabilities, as well as its news, weather, stock, and sports reports, Yahoo! Messenger makes for a worthy adversary in the battle of instant messengers.
