Yahoo! Messenger is a relatively new instant message client that competes with the likes of ICQ and AOL Instant Messenger. Instant messaging is similar to e-mail in that it allows you to exchange free, private messages with your online friends. But unlike e-mail, instant messages appear as soon they're sent.

Yahoo! Messenger may be a youngster relative to its competition, but that certainly doesn't mean the client is lacking when it comes to features and functionality.
