Upgrade Your Uploads with CuteFTP 6.0 New Home and Professional Editions of File-Transfer Classic
GlobalScape Inc. has released new Home and Professional editions of its CuteFTP file-transfer software. Version 6.0 is built on a new foundation that incorporates the latest technologies in security, transfer automation, and data management.
CuteFTP 6.0 Home ($40) and Professional ($60) both support TLS, currently under consideration by the Internet Engineering Steering Group, as well as conventional SSL (Secure Socket Layer) connections; the Pro version also lets users accept or reject server certificates based on Windows' Trusted Certificate Store in addition to CuteFTP's internal certificate list.
You can secure your sessions further by choosing key strengths (up to 4,096 bits) when creating SSL certificate sets. The new versions use Windows XP's UPnP NAT interface for auto-detect port mapping when connecting from behind a firewall, and can automatically detect Internet Explorer's proxy settings (under Windows XP SP1 and Windows 2000 SP3).
Menus, dialogs, shortcut keys, icons, and error descriptions have been improved, as has application startup time. CuteFTP Professional can also transfer files between remote hosts securely via SSCN, a proprietary command supported by a growing number of FTP servers and clients, and can record, play back, and schedule standard or secure FTP sessions with no programming.
