Front-end Functionality Expands WinZip's Power
WinZip additionally provides a front-end for decompressing files that have been compressed with rarely used formats like LZH, ARJ, and ARC. Providing a front-end means that WinZip can run these tasks through its interface, but a companion piece of software is needed to perform the actual task.
Additional front-end functionality includes the ability to make an EXE file (a self-extracting compressed program) from a zipped archive, to scan downloaded archives for viruses (including support for popular virus scanning applications like McAfee's VirusScan, Norton Anti-Virus, F-Prot, and ThunderBYTE Anti-Virus), and to download compressed files from the Internet using your Web browser (this requires the new Internet Browser Support Add-On client).
