WeatherXpress 2000
Five Interface Options
Forrest Stroud

Five Interface Options

WeatherXpress presents five different interface options for helping you monitor current weather conditions. The default interface displays up to ten different cities and a weather synopsis for each city consisting of current temperature, sky conditions, wind direction and speed, barometric pressure, dew point, and relative humidity. The weather synopsis can be configured to refresh as often as every 60 seconds or as seldom as once an hour.

Extended information for each city is just a right-mouse click away and includes a local forecast for today (a NOWcast) or for the next three days, a state forecast, and a listing of any special weather statements issued. One downside to WeatherXpress is that there is no way to personalize the synopsis to your liking -- for example, you cannot add additional elements like the hi/low temperature for the day and you cannot delete or move any of the default elements.

A second interface option in WeatherXpress is a mini-weather window that takes up a couple inches of real estate in the corner of your monitor. The mini-weather window only displays information for one city at a time but can be set up to automatically display a new city after a specific period of time.

You can also get your weather information via the WeatherXpress traybar icon, which displays a graphical icon of current weather conditions for one city. Hovering your mouse pointer over the icon will display additional information for that city. The final two interface options are only available to registered users. The new analog window displays realistic 'weather gauges' similar to a real weather station. There's also a digital viewer that displays weather conditions in an all-digital format.
