Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release What's New in Service Release 1 Forrest Stroud
What's New in Service Release 1
SR-1 includes updates for the various Office 2000 programs (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and FrontPage), Internet Explorer 5.01, security updates (including a Worm.Explorer.Zip virus update and the Excel 2000 SYLK file security update), and Office 2000 system-level components that are updated to Windows 2000 system levels.
Although some of these updates have been released as separate download, the SR-1 package is the first time all of the updates have been made available in one download. The 134 KB download is a setup wizard that will allow you to download the remaining components of the Office 2000 Service Release, which is 27,649 KB. You can get more information about the Office 2K SR-1 from the Office 2000 Service Release Web site.
The SR-1a release adds the Office 2000/Windows 2000 Registry Repair Utility to the original service release (this is the only new addition in the 1a release). This utility restores the registry settings for several important files that prevent potential issues from arising. If you've already installed the SR-1 update and have not upgraded from Win NT 4 to Windows 2000, you do not need this utility. If you have upgraded from NT 4 to Windows 2000 and have already installed the SR-1 update, you only need to install the Office 2000/Windows 2000 Repair Utility. All other users should install the SR-1a update.
