What Makes PMMail 2000 Really Cook
Where PMMail 2000 really shines is in its incorporated filtering technology, which utilizes the Internet Communication Search Language (ICSL). Most e-mail clients have some limited ability to filter messages, but PMMail 2000 goes well beyond that. PMMail 2000 organizes messages automatically; received e-mail can be assigned to specific sub-folders and can be routed directly there. This filtering engine can sort through all varieties of mail and can even be set up to perform the functions of a mailing list.
There is a migration wizard that allows users of other e-mail programs to smoothly transfer existing account settings, along with current messages, into a new PMMail account. This easy-to-use import feature also allows each account to be modified according to need. A useful feature called remote control can manipulate e-mail while it still sits on the server, allowing deletion of selected messages and downloading of desired messages at will.
The PMMail user interface is configurable, including "drag and drop" icons, and the address manager is among the best we have seen at storing in-depth contact information. Information, statistics and data sit at the bottom of all windows in a status area, giving easy continual access. Group list functions accept message lists for group mail. Rich text format is available, along with spell-check, multiple signatures and word wrap. There is also an internal dialer, and hooks exist for just about any task to be performed before and/or after each mail call.
