WebFerret
Query Multiple Search Engines for Web Sites

Query Multiple Search Engines for Web Sites

Search engines contacted by WebFerret include notables like AltaVista, Lycos, Search.com, Infoseek, and WebCrawler as well as some of the lesser know engines like Euroseek, AOL NetFind, LookSmart, and Galaxy. Additionally, WebFerret now includes support for the Gopher protocol and can search one of the major Veronica engines on the net as well.

WebFerret also allows you to restrict a search to a maximum number of matches per search engine; additionally, you can define degrees of strength, or confidence factors, that will narrow or broaden the generated list of results. After WebFerret has compiled a list of results, you can scan each entry to see if any pique your interest.

For each successful find, WebFerret provides the site name and address as well as a brief summary of the site (in the form of a post-it type note that only appears when the mouse icon is positioned over the site name). Actually viewing a site is only one simple step away; all you need to do is double-click on the site name and your favorite Web browser will be launched and the site in question loaded.
