Norton Internet Security 2004
Parental Control and Privacy

Parental Control and Privacy

Another useful feature in Norton Internet Security that you won't find in most competing clients is the built-in Parental Control tools. These block access to specific Web sites or categories of sites (as defined by NIS's updateable URL Database), meaning that you — or anyone else who accesses your computer — cannot access these sites in any way. NIS even goes a step farther with Application Restrictions, which prevent specific applications such as chat tools or online games from accessing the Internet.

Privacy features in NIS range from customizable privacy settings to a Cookie Assistant that blocks or permits cookies on a per-cookie/per-site basis, to an Anonymous Surfing feature that blocks your e-mail address, referrer field, and user agent from being sent to Web sites to an Internet Confidentiality feature that keeps your confidential information from being sent to unsecured Web sites.
