Features in The Bat! include auto-completion for address fields; a mailbox import wizard for Outlook Express, Eudora Lite/Pro, Pegasus Mail, Netscape Messenger (v4), and Netscape Mail (v2/v3); traybar icon support; configurable message templates; multiple account support; a multilingual spell checker (with English, Dutch, German, French, and Italian dictionaries available); and extensive filtering capabilities that lack only the ability to color-code messages based on importance.
The Bat's filtering capabilities offer auto-reply, kill filter, automatic redirection, and message forwarding capabilities, as well as the ability to pass data to external programs. You can also set up filters that allow The Bat! to function as a basic list server for managing discussion lists. The spelling checker has an automatic spellcheck option that underlines questionable spellings as you type, a very useful feature that is similar to the automatic spell checking capabilities of Microsoft Word. A right click on any misspelled word allows you to correct the word, ignore all cases of the word, or add the word to the dictionary.
