Features, Features, and More Features
Xnews is nearly everything News Xpress was plus a whole lot more that News Xpress never could be. Most notably, Xnews is a native 32-bit application built from the ground up for Windows 9x/NT. Features in the newsreader include an intuitive interface that is quite similar to that of News Xpress; full hypertext URL support (although URLs aren't highlighted, underlined, or color-coded, so you'll need to double-click on anything that looks like a URL in order to have it sent to your Web browser); automatic decoding of mime, base64, and uuencode encoded binaries; a quick filter for finding articles by a specific subject or author; and a customizable score file for advanced filtering.
Additional features include support for multiple servers and identities, a Plonk file for blacklisting posters (Xnews' version of the Bozo Bin), remappable keyboard capabilities, 100% GNKSA 2.0 (Good Net Keeping Seal of Approval) compliance, optional header and article caching, quick sorting on six categories (subject, size, sender, date, score, and article number), a tabbed interface for quickly switching between a listing of all newsgroups and specific newsgroups, e-mail sending capabilities, a link to search for old news articles on Deja News, and much more.
