Trumpet Winsock A Tool Whose Time Has Passed Forrest Stroud
Trumpet Winsock long served as the Consummate Winsock Application for Windows 3.x SLIP/PPP users — until 32-bit OSes arrived there weren't really even any alternatives. And now that Trumpet Winsock is available for Windows 95 and later operating systems as well, Windows 95 users finally have a solid alternative to the Windows 95 dial-up stack.
Winsock's utility has diminished, though, with each new release of Windows. Aside from its IPv6 support, these days Trumpet Winsock has little to offer most users, as Windows 98 and later offer full winsock and internet connection support.
