Don't know about you, but I've always dreamt of a Bill Gates-like home. A room full of dedicated Windows NT servers, controlling the surrounding atmosphere... switching on my Dolly Parton favourites as I walk from room to room. Changing the digital art work to suit my particular mood as I stroll through the corridors. Ahh, bliss.
But unfortunately, I don't have $60 million to pump into my joint. Pity, that. However, I do have a spare £100 quid to splash out on the latest craze to hit the UK - Home Control.
Although the kits are readily available in the US from home control giant X-10 (www.x-10.com), the license for UK sales has been purchased by Home Control (www.homecontrol.co.uk) - and they're selling like warm cheese pasties in the North Pole.
Anyway, back to the review. It's 8.00am Saturday morning and I'm still in bed after a hard night surfing. Suddenly, an evil-looking delivery guy almost knocks down my door, awakening me from peaceful slumber. Following an exchange of undesirable glances, I snatched the parcel he held - and a couple of signatures later, I was the proud owner of the "Take Control" PC Home Control Kit. And trust me, this thing is groovy.
