IMSI NetAccelerator

Alex Housley

It doesn't matter which side of the Atlantic you're on; when you are on the Net, time is money. NetAccelerator, from IMSI, works by utilizing your modem's downtime. It actually follows and downloads hyperlinked pages into your browsers cache when your modem is idle. When your are ready to view the cached page it loads almost instantaneously. IMSI claims this program can speed up your download times up to twelvefold. I am happy to report that they are telling the truth. This makes it an indispensable tool for anyone without an ISDN or cable connection.

NetAccelerator also monitors your browsing habits and remembers the sites you visit most. It automatically visits these sites, looking for updates and storing them in your browsers cache ready for viewing. Due to this the download times are reduced considerably.

If I had to point out a fault, it would be the lack of user assistance. There is no online help and just a mere two-page readme file. But the software does its job well and the savings in time and money are a great benefit. This software should be a must have for anyone who connects to the Web on a regular basis.
