Albino Frog Software FileHound How Does it Work? Douglas Smith
FileHound does require two mouse clicks to launch instead of the one click that you would use with your favorite browser, but this is the only downfall that you will ever notice about this jewel. How it works is simple. FileHound scans the clipboard for URLs to download. To download a file with FileHound, do one of the following:
Drag and drop a web link from your web browser onto FileHound's window
Right-click on a web link and choose "Copy to Clipboard" or "Copy Shortcut" (FileHound will grab the link from the clipboard and you only need to tell it to START downloading)
Type the URL into FileHound's edit window
To download multiple files from one page or an FTP site, drag and drop the FTP directory or web page onto FileHound's window and let FileHound retrieve the listing of files. FTP directory names can also be keyed manually into FileHound's edit window. FileHound extends the basic file download functionality far beyond what you are used to having in your web browser by way of various tabbed option settings. FileHound does not make any changes to your system and it does not modify any system settings or move any files. You can't hurt anything by just playing around with it, so you can safely experiment with FileHound and see what each feature does.
What Are You Waiting For?
It's not often that something of such good value -- something that actually works as it should -- comes along. We spend countless hours on the net and probably most of it is used to download files. So why not at least make downloading more pleasurable, and a lot more consistent. With this program, a little will surely bring a lot. Great job Albino Frog Software, this program can only get better.
