This fantastic little utility was designed with the programmer and web-designer in mind. Are you tired of going through file after file using the Find+Replace feature? BK's ReplaceEm lets you choose the files you want added to your queue, finds the specific strings of text within them, and replaces them with anything you choose. It even backs up your old files, just in case. Best of all, it's Freeware!
Multiple files and multiple replaces are this program's main features. Its functionality is great for anyone who - like myself - often needs to change many HTML files and source code files with more recent code. It's fast, it's VERY easy, and the options are fantastic. Options to skip files, skip backing up based on dates and times, confirmations, and others may be selected. Every little aspect of this program can be tweaked to your needs. ReplaceEm is unbeatable when it comes to text replacement.
The only problem found with this program was overwriting backup files. It seems that when you have files such as HTML files, with many index.html's involved, some of the backup files want to be named the same as each other. This causes loss of backup files, and time wasted clicking yes and no. This can be easily remedied by just creating your own backups before using the program.
