Netscape Communicator 4.7 The Bottom Line Douglas Smith
Netscape Communicator 4.7 is a delight to use, even for all those hardcore IE5 users. The new added features, and tweaks here and there to enhance speed and usability, are great. The interface is very similiar to earlier offerings from Netscape, but you can tell that it will only get better--especially with the mega-bucks of an AOL supporting development of new enhancements. If you are a die-hard IE user, you probably won't run out and download Communicator and start using it; the enhancements aren't that overwhelming. But if you have earlier versions of Communicator, you just must upgrade for this one. Download size is about 18 meg for the full version with smaller downloads available if you just want the browser. There is a really nice Smart Downloader that allows you to surf while you pull in this monster (that is, if you don't have ISDN, ADSL or Cable). All in all, this is a really nice improvment for an already solid performer, which will be integrated in future AOL packages. Communicator 4.7 is only for Windows 95/98/NT and Mac, at this time.
