Netscape Communicator 4.7 The War is on Again Douglas Smith
It doesn't seem like long ago that Netscape was the king of the hill in the Internet browser market. Then Microsoft got its second wind with the release of IE3, and the rest is history. Netscape seemed to just go into hiding until along came the Communicator line of browsers. There have been others surfacing from time to time, but the battle really just seemed to be between Microsoft and Netscape, with the victor taking over 50% of the market. Well, Netscape has surfaced again with another version of their famed Communicator series, version 4.7. Netscape Communicator 4.7 sports a complete set of tools for effective everyday communication. Some of the new features include Smart Browsing, integrated mail and news in a nice three-paned interface, roaming access, pinpoint addressing, and a scalable address book. Also offered is the ability to download newsgroup articles for offline use, a fully operational roaming support and a Quotes Anywhere feature that will allow you to access stock quotes using a Netcenter portfolio.
