Adobe Photoshop Album Helps Consumers Find, Fix, and Share Digital Images Organize and Search Thousands of Photos; Export Them To CD, DVD, or PDF Eric Grevstad
Mon 1/6/03 -- Many point-and-shoot consumers and digital image collectors will never need the industrial-strength editing of Adobe Systems' legendary Adobe Photoshop, but are still seeking a simple yet capable way to touch up, keep track of, and share their thousands of digital photos. Adobe Photoshop Album, shipping in February for $50, aims to answer their prayers.
Photoshop Album gathers images for viewing in one convenient place, dubbed the "photo well," and automatically organizes them by date. A timeline view shows photos taken over a period of time, while a calendar view shows the exact day each image was captured. A customizable visual "tagging" system helps you instantly find photos of favorite people, places, or any other subject, no matter how large the photo well grows.
One-click editing tools fix common problems such as red-eye, contrast, and brightness, with another click bringing integration with Adobe's consumer-level Photoshop Elements 2.0 image editor.
Finally, while you can back up images to CD or DVD with a click of the mouse, Photoshop Album also uses Adobe's Acrobat PDF technology to create template-based slide shows that can include captions, video clips, and background music. Links to online providers offer prints and other services.
