Ipswitch Updates WS_FTP Pro Transfer Toolkit Version 7.5 Streamlines Connections and Holds Beginners' Hands Eric Grevstad
Mon 4/15/02 -- Managing a Web site is getting easier all the time, but some of the tools you need to do so -- like FTP (File Transfer Protocol) clients -- aren't much friendlier than they were when Webmasters showed their machismo by editing HTML code in Windows Notepad. Ipswitch Inc. aims to fix that with WS_FTP Pro 7.5, a major redesign of its popular FTP software that adds more speed and convenience for novices and power users alike.
Even users with no FTP or Internet experience will be connecting in seconds, thanks to a new Upload Wizard that transfers files directly from Windows Explorer or the Start menu to an FTP server -- all that's required is right-clicking on a file or folder and selecting the WS_FTP Upload option. Similarly, new Site Wizard and Quick Connect features streamline the tasks of organizing and connecting to frequently visited sites, while a revamped dialog box lets you set a favorite site as a default when opening WS_FTP Pro.
A new Assistance Center provides interactive tutorials and reference tools for FTP and site management rookies, including tutorials on creating site profiles, connecting to an FTP site, and transferring files to and from a local PC.
WS_FTP Pro 7.5 is available for $45 (boxed) or $40 (download), with upgrades for current WS_FTP Pro users priced at $10.
