ACDSee 4.0 Offers Extra Image Viewing and Management Tools Multimedia Functions Let Users Add Audio or Create Stills from Video Files Eric Grevstad
Mon 10/1/01 -- With almost 40 new features, ACD Systems International says, version 4.0 of its ACDSee digital imaging software is the most complete tool available for viewing, managing, printing, and sharing digital camera images and multimedia files.
ACDSee 4.0 offers a redesigned interface for more efficient workflow, including the ability to edit multiple images at once and browse scores of thumbnails offline. Users can organize images and thumbnails -- in over 50 file formats -- in easy-to-use album folders, as well as on CD-R or -RW discs, and search for images based on attributes, digital camera information, and duplicate content.
The program can also be configured to launch a favorite video, audio, or image editor, and lets users view and create still pictures from video files or add audio to still images. DirectX 8.0 is supported, as is direct image capture from USB storage devices and a variety of the newest digital cameras.
ACDSee 4.0 is available for download and will soon be available at retail for $50. ACD's SendPix photo sharing service, which lets users post images to Web-based albums instead of sending large files via e-mail, is free.
